Let the Countdown Begin!
Updated: Feb 4
This is an exciting day for us! Today we are one month away from packing up, and starting the adventure that will be our new life. This brings on a whirlwind of emotions. As you have read, our track record in the Fifth Wheel has not been all unicorns and butterflies, however the excitement over what is to come is definitely helping keep the worried feelings at bay. We posted previously about our upcoming plans, but we are so excited we wanted to add a post to talk about what we are going to do between now and our departure to prepare.
The first, and most exciting venture will be making one last stop at some of the establishments we love in Milwaukee. Although we will be back frequently to visit, we want to hit up a few of our favorite spots, in hopes that we can introduce you to some really great places that aren’t always on the top lists of things to do in the area. We will definitely put a blog post together in the coming weeks highlighting some of the stops we’ve made. Be ready for lots of wonderful food photos!
The most vital thing we are focused on is getting the fifth wheel ready for travel. It’s been stationary for nearly nine months, so there is a lot to target. We will need to make a final check of our structure and all of our systems. This is a necessary evil, despite the temperatures in Milwaukee being less than pleasant to work outside in. The valuable part of doing our in depth inspections will be the piece of mind that everything is as it should be. After sitting for such a long time, there are a handful of things that need to be cared for. To ensure we’ve done everything necessary, we have referenced multiple checklists, manufacturer’s suggested maintenance schedules, and noted items we’ve had issues with in the past. Hopefully you won’t soon be reading a post regarding all of the issues we found, and what we had to go through to correct them.
Lastly, (and this is one of my favorites) we are compiling our list of things we need to make certain we’ve got along with us. This means we get to think about all of the fun activities we will be doing as we travel the country. We have some of our larger, less frequently used items stored with our families, so this gives us the chance to break out and give it some use. We will be doing a great deal of biking, golfing, camping, and just spending time outdoors. Dusting off the golf clubs and camping gear is going to be great, we haven’t done either of these things since before Piper was born. It will be great to get Ian out with his clubs for the first time, and to help make sure we get Piper enjoying the outdoors as much as we do!
Our first stay will be at Reunion Lake RV Resort in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. We will be headed there with all 3 kids, and can’t wait to spend some time with them out in the sun!
Stay tuned for the antics to come as we say good-bye to Milwaukee and set out for our next adventure!
