It’s Finally Hit Me

Updated: Feb 4

This post is one of reflection for me, hopefully I don’t bore you all.

As I said in “My Why”, I’m an only child, and very close to my parents. I didn’t really think a day would ever come where I would “leave” them, or that I’d even want to. It’s crazy that now that day has come, and it’s only a week away.

I’ve spent hours upon hours planning this journey we are about to embark on. Making sure we had places to stay, balancing beachside locations with more remote locations. I’ve ensured we can be places we need to be reasonably within the time frame necessary, marked every stop for gas we will need to make, and made sure we didn’t miss out on seeing some of the most wonderful places, or enjoying great meals in each state we are visiting. It’s been a ton of work. Don’t get me wrong, this is the work I love. If you can give me a “problem” to organize out, I am in HEAVEN! I have gotten so much joy from putting all of these details together over the last 2 or 3 months. Today, however was different for me.

This morning, as I was working on some of the final things that need to be done to prepare the fifth wheel for 10,000+ miles of travel in the next 7 months, I realized that this really is happening. All the work was actually for something. This isn’t a trip we are going on for a week or two and coming back to the location we’ve called home for the last 7 months. We will have a new “home” nearly once a week from now until October! I am indeed going to be miles and miles away from my mom and dad for a month or more at a time. I was surprised to realize, this actually hit me with a great deal of excitement and elation. I absolutely have the opportunity to travel the country. In one week, we will be in Louisiana, then two weeks later Florida,

then Georgia,

South Carolina,

North Carolina,

and lastly Virginia Beach.

This only covers our stays between now and the end of April, that doesn’t begin to touch the list of stops. There are thousands more miles of beautiful places we will visit before settling in for winter. We are going to have the opportunity to give our kids the experience of seeing their country firsthand, and that is so wonderful. Even Zach and I haven’t seen even a quarter of the places we are going to visit, and I just can’t wait. This. Really. Is. Happening.

Please continue to stay tuned, we will have lots of great stuff to share very, very soon, we hope you enjoy it!
